Beannachtam na Feile Padraig! (Happy St. Patrick’s Day!)

St Patricks Cross - Rock of Cashel

See you all tomorrow at 7.30pm at the Lyceum for our monthly meeting. We’ll have our News from the Old Country segment and look forward to welcoming any AOH visitors in town.

Now, enjoy the day when everyone’s Irish – at least for a little while – with these classic toasts:

Saint Patrick was a gentleman,
Who through strategy and stealth,
Drove all the snakes from Ireland,
Here’s a toasting to his health.
But not too many toastings
Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good Saint Patrick
And see all those snakes again.

Sláinte!
(pronounced ‘slawn-cha’, meaning Health!)

Sláinte chuig na fir, agus go mairfidh na mná go deo.
Health to the men, and may the women live forever!

Faol saol agat, gob fliuch, agus bás in Éirinn.
Long life to you, a wet mouth, and death in Ireland.

Éirinn go brách!
